Alex Lauricella joins MMK as Special Counsel. He represents insurers, business owners, and individuals in high-stakes disputes while also counseling clients in various legal and strategic matters.
Alex has also built a robust and growing book of business consisting of athletes, families, coaches, trainers, entrepreneurs, and sports-related businesses throughout the Gulf South and beyond. As a certified contract advisor through the National Football League Players Association, he counsels clients through the college recruiting process, the transfer portal, and the NFL Draft, while also advising on contract negotiations, NIL opportunities, branding, compliance, and long-term business strategy. Alex also serves as a frequent speaker and advocate on legal issues impacting collegiate athletics. He has presented to college athletic departments on NIL, athlete representation, contracts, compliance, and risk management, and has delivered educational presentations to student-athletes on avoiding common legal, financial, and professional pitfalls. He recently testified before the Louisiana State Senate on NIL legislation and other legal issues affecting student-athletes in Louisiana.
Before practicing law, Alex attended Tulane University on a full athletic scholarship as a Division I football player. He later earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. As both an attorney and former athlete, he offers a rare perspective that helps him connect with clients navigating high-pressure decisions.
Alex has earned recognition from the legal and business communities, including selection to Super Lawyers – “Rising Stars” (2019–2026), Best Lawyers in America – “Ones to Watch” (2024), and New Orleans City Business “Leadership in Law” (2022).
A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Alex remains actively involved in the local community through coaching, mentorship, and helping develop the next generation of athletes and business leaders. Away from the office, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, Taylor, and their two sons, James and Leo, as well as playing golf.
