Profile

Matt defends clients in state and federal courts in Louisiana and Mississippi and before state and federal administrative agencies and tribunals in the areas of personal injury, insurance coverage, product liability, professional liability, bad faith, first-party property, and commercial litigation. He also has experience litigating labor and employment and healthcare issues.  He also has experience drafting complex commercial transaction documents, including secured financing agreements, retail leases, vendor agreements, operating agreements, and employment and non-competition agreements.

Matt’s passion for legal writing and oral advocacy translates to an ability to distill complex legal positions into effective and easily understandable arguments.  His experience in-house with a national retailer gives Matt insight into the internal dynamics and needs of organizational clients.

Matt earned his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2009. At MCSOL, he served on the law review and as a member of the moot court board, participating in the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition in which he received the Best Brief Award for the Boston region. Matt also received Best Paper awards in Civil Procedure 1 and II, Criminal Law, Wills and Estates, and Remedies.

Matt is a native of north-central Mississippi. Prior to attending law school, he graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and taught high school history and coached football for two years. Matt enjoys cooking with his wife Lara and daughter Taylor, and any activity that lets him experience Louisiana’s variety of outdoor recreational opportunities.
